[User Feedback - Stable] Mac - Unable to delete URLs in the Omnibox if there's a # (hashtag) |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 70.0.3538.67 OS: Mac OS X: 10.14.0 "Can not delete hashtag # in url in the address bar" "When the linkin is # (sharp) at the end, I can't delete it with the backspace. When I press the backspace, it highlights the pound sign but does not delete it. As if the auto complete overlaps with the deletion and the auto complete comes victorious. It doesn't wipe any way. I need to select and delete with the mouse." "when typing a url and it autocompletes there is not a way to fully backspace and clear the address bar, it only allows you until a certain point if you have already visited the webpage, leaving an example below. Say I visited `https://www.google.com/#/example-topic/` in the past Today I start typing in the address bar, `https://www.g` and I take the autocomplete option but I actually want to visit `https://www.google.com/` now I start pressing backspack button to delete characters and it only deletes up to the `#` in the autocompleted url which is `https://www.google.com/#`"

I'm seeing the same issue. For me it's happening against localhost:7000/#/my/app/path. When I backspace over my/app/path, it gets stuck at http://localhost:7000/# and it immediately autocompletes to the first (recommended?) entry in the omnibox. Chrome: 70.0.3538.77

This is bug 879796. It was only fixed for Chrome 71, so it's likely users will be living with it for a while. One way to fix it would be to delete the visits in history that autocomplete with a #hash like that, e.g., https://www.google.com/#/example-topic/. It's the #hash that is causing the trouble. The fix was risky so we decided not to merge it into M-70. |
