Chrome sync will sync wrong user in version 70

Reported by rea...@gmail.com, Oct 22

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.100 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Sign into gmail or youtube with a different user.

What is the expected behavior?
Chrome should sync my normal user.

What went wrong?
Chrome will switch to sync a different user.

Did this work before? Yes 69

Chrome version: 69.0.3497.100 Channel: n/a
OS Version:
Flash Version:

I was asked to open a new bug report:

https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=896952

So I'm opening this one. When I sign out of google sites to sign in using a different user, Chrome 70 will stop syncing and switch the different user.

In Chrome 69 (which I have downgraded to now), does not have this problem.

Thanks for filing again!

I've tried to reproduce this, but I couldn't. Here's what I did, maybe you can point out where I'm doing something wrong/different from you:

1) Sign in to Chrome with account A and turn on Sync.
2) Sign out of Gmail. Now Sync is paused.
3) Sign in to Gmail with account B. Sync is still paused, and still linked to account A.

I used Chrome 70.0.3538.67, i.e. the current stable version.

OK, it seems it's just not possible to avoid this issue.

I've installed Firefox for now and imported my Chrome data. Syncing works perfectly fine with Firefox without having to sign in with a specific Google account. I can sign in and sign out, and sync still works.

Thank you. You can close this bug.
