Unable to reproduce the issue on chrome reported version#69.0.3497.100 and on latest stable# 70.0.3538.67 using Windows-7 & 10 with steps mentioned below:
1) Launched chrome reported version and added bookmark to bookmark bar
2) Opened New Tab Page, typed something in the omnibox, got suggestion list, then clicked on bookmark icon on bookmark bar, page got navigated to respective page.

@Reporter: Please find the attached screencast for your reference. Try to test this issue by creating new person with no apps and extensions in it and let us know if the issue still persists. You can download latest chrome stable from URL: https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel

It's worth noting that I *can* reproduce the issue that the suggestions list doesn't close when clicking something in the toolbar. But the clicks do work and produce the expected effect (open bookmark folder or navigate). And the list closes once a navigation starts.

caglaraygor: can you confirm that the issue is not just that the list doesn't close but that nothing at all happens when you click on that Gmail bookmark?

The problem has disappeared since I updated chrome to v70. Thanks for your interest in the issue though.
