If you have two tabs open, A and B, and B is doing something that makes the renderer unresponsive, when you switch from A to B, the contents of A is displayed until B recovers. If B is super wedged, this can be a long time (seconds).

I haven't tried to generate a repro explicitly, but I'm seeing it happen on my mac.
