External Monitor notifications do not dismiss

Notifications when you plug in an external monitor do never auto-dismiss. Even after the external monitor has been unplugged again. That seems overly aggressive and unnecessary. Can we find a way that satisfies the security requirement without keeping an notification up permanently?

Similarly for casting display (e.g. to Chromecast).  Notifications must be manually closed.

Also, the only way to do them is to find that (relatively small) X with your mouse.  There is no keyboard shortcut.
