Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.54 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. $ chromium -g 2. See the appended message 3. Try to copy message with mouse What is the expected behavior? Can copy. What went wrong? Cannot copy. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 70.0.3538.54 Channel: beta OS Version: Flash Version: Sometimes I want to copy such messages with the mouse, but I am forced to make screenshots instead.

jidanni@ Thanks for the issue... Tried to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3538.0 using Ubuntu 14.04. Attaching screencast for reference. Steps: --------- 1. Launched reported chrome 2. Entered command chromium -g and launched chrome As we are seen error as per screencast and not seen any message to copy @Reporter: Could you please check the attached screen cast and please let us know if anything missed from our end and Can you verify this issue with fresh profile that is not having any extensions and apps or reset all the flags. If possible provide screencast for better triaging it. Thanks..!

Yes, this message will only appear in Debian. My hope is that you will make such classes of messages copyable by default no matter where they occur.

jidanni@ Thanks for the update. As per comment #3, this issue is observed only on Debian. This setup is not available at TE end to confirm the issue. Hence adding 'TE-NeedsTriageFromHYD' label and requesting Inhouse team for help in further triaging. Thanks..

There is certainly text in the application that is not focusable otherwise it will change UX. For example you can't select and copy the title of the page. I think because the warning here you want to copy is a niche usage making it focusable (so it is selectable) isn't needed.

Well titles of pages I think are part of the window manager and thus not controllable by Chromium. But these messages are. And are very frustrating when you can't copy them _for no good reason_. You are not protecting users by not allowing them to copy them. They just have to type them in all over again by hand, character by character, when trying to look them up in Google. |
