Linux app install does not clean up on cancellation |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome version: (copy from chrome://version) OS: Chrome 71.0.3558.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) Repro steps: 1. Enable Linux Apps 2. Cancel VM installation process midway 3. Try using / reinstalling Linux VM Expected: Either it should reinstall or let me restart the process Actual: Clicking the Linux Apps setting brings me to the option to uninstall it which fails with the message "Error uninstalling Linux. Please try again."

To clarify: what phase of the installation did you cancel? There's separate messages for starting the VM and installing the Linux container. Was it the former?

I can't recall the specifics sorry :( I do know it was still downloading and I was tethered on the phone so I hit cancel. How do you suggest I unbork this state? Powerwash and restart?

Can you reproduce the uninstall failure and then file a feedback report (Alt+Shit+I) and put a #crostini in the title?

Nick, Can you see if you can reproduce this? This was the only thing interesting I saw in the log: [5132:5132:1023/235648.338825:ERROR:crostini_manager.cc(151)] Destroying without having called the callback.

That log message happens when the user aborts - by pressing Cancel in the install dialog.

This CL https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/1316980 should fix the issues with cleanup/reinstall.
