Issue descriptionChrome Version: 71.0.3567.0 OS Version: 11125.0.0 URLs (if applicable) : What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Update to dev channel 71.0.3567.0 2. Open app drawer. What is the expected result? The app icons should look normal, and there should be no pixelation. What happens instead of that? The icons of apps installed via Crostini look distorted and pixelated. The only Crostini app that doesn't look pixelated is the Terminal app. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS aarch64 11125.0.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3567.0 Safari/537.36

Additional examples can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crostini/comments/9lxwz0/extremely_pixelated_linux_app_icons_after_force/ These users suggest it is not limited to the dev channel only.

A quick fix I have already posted on Reddit. Just go to /usr/share/applications and rename each desktop file to something else. E.g. rename thunar.desktop to thunar2.desktop like that sudo mv thunar.desktop thunar2.desktop and the icon will automagically reset to the right res:) I suppose that it clears the cache in some way, so that icons are no more low-res. |
