After successfully using Smart Lock on the signin page to sign in, it takes a few seconds to open the user session. In that time, nothing seems to have happened -- the signin screen remains unchanged, and you can even start entering text into the password field. The user is left confused and wondering if anything is happening for those few seconds.

I remember there used to be some UI that solved this issue -- a "Signing in..." text, but it looks like that was removed in [1]. James, can you provide some context here? It looks like you removed this UI to solve a crash, but is there any reason we couldn't add this UI back (making sure not to reintroduce the crash, of course). Thanks!
