I`m with the OP. Same problem.
Tested in the same network and printer 3 scenarios:

1) Windows 10 + Chrome 71.0.3578.80: works flawlessly;
2) Ubuntu 18.10 (Gnome) + Chrome 71.0.3578.80: fails when trying to print a pdf;
3) Manjaro (Cinnamon) + Chrome 71.0.3578.80: fails when trying to print a pdf.

I asked in Ubuntu reddit, one guy showed me another person with the same problem, and I came here to emphasize the problem.

P.S.: sorry for typos, my english is rusty.
