Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.100 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open Chrome and some page with input field 2. Write something in the field and keep focus 3. Try changing the language in Windows bottom right corner (do install couple of languages for that matter) 4. Change is not happening, and it is not happening with any other method to change keyboard 5. Minimize Chrome 6. Change keyboard now 7. Open Chrome and try typing in input field 8. Now it starts behaving erratically, some characters are typed in correctly but some that might require Alt or other special buttons do not What is the expected behavior? Chrome to behave on changing the language while it is opened the same as when the language is set before it is opened. What went wrong? It is virtually impossible to type in more than one language while Chrome is opened, the problem getting even worse if some special character is needed. On changing the language it all becomes so messy that the only way is to close and reopen Chrome. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 69.0.3497.100 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: The issue like this was closed 6 years ago complaining only about Alt+Shift. It is really bad to see it closed as fixed while you did nothing except waiting not too many people crying about it. Changing language in Chrome is TOTALLY broken. Period.

It works if I press Win let menu appear, press Win again to hide it then Win+Space, which is essentially to shortly diverge focus. So I guess as the workaround is not extremely painful... let it be for other people who have the same problem they can try this workaround. In incognito mode it works slightly better but not completely. I have noticed the same problem on my other computers, even at work from time to time, so I will keep my eye on it, and try this workaround. Most painful experience when typing in special chars on Latex and Wolfram for example.

Yes, I have tested thinking is it the problem with device I have. The problem is very noticeable and it is not a device. If I use notepad, switching languages goes as smoothly as possible. The same test on Internet Explorer. Nope. No problems. Chrome... Switching languages is extremely painful process. I tried my sister's computer and there was no such problem, but I clearly remember having the same issue at work while I could not realise the problem thinking it must be my fat fingers. With this new computer it has become very obvious. Note... this is 32-bit, at work is 64-bit. I am certain there is some problem in this area and that something gets stuck. The problem is again: cannot change the language in edit fields, once I change by some annoying clicking some chars are just not what they should be, it looks like they remain those from English keyboard, once that start working somehow, as soon as the focus is lost it is back to not being able to track keyboard properly. There is no pattern I can follow to get reasonable behaviour at all. |
