Reported by sherlysp...@gmail.com, Sep 30

Issue description

Chrome Version : <Copy from: 'about:version'> 69.0.3497.95
URLs (if applicable) : N/A
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
     Safari: N/A
    Firefox: N/A
       Edge: N/A

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) closing a tab at the X, ctrl + w, or click and 'close' causes all tabs to close and chrome to crash. I am operating a chromebook, so the whole screen crashes for about 10 seconds before coming back with 'chrome wasn't shut down properly, restore tabs?' pop up
(2)
(3)

What is the expected result?

just intending to close tabs and web pages without crashing

What happens instead?

crashing over 70% of the time, rendering internet usage very difficult

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

this seems to happen mostly on incognito. it DID NOT happen before the latest update. log analyzer gives me several NOTREACHED and crash reporting detected notices, prompting me to report this bug. asides from internet crashes, Chromebook is working as expected

Is this still happening? 69.0.3497.95 isn't the latest. Can you provide server crash report ids from chrome://crashes
Yes, this is still happening. Chrome has since updated to 69.0.3497.120 and
it still crashes when I close the final tab on a window. Included is a
screenshot of crash ids from chrome://crashes. Most of them are from this
issue itself.

Please provide the crash ID as text. When you respond via email the attachments get dropped and don't get added to the bug report.
Oh, so sorry about that. Here's the text of some of the crashes. There's
over 30 of them that only started after the previous Chrome update, but I
didn't paste all of them. Let me know if you need all of them. As you can
see, the crashes are happening even as soon as five minutes ago.

These are all extension crashes. Can you try disabling all your extensions and see if it reproduces? If not then trying to enable each one so we can track down the cause?
Oh, interesting! I'll disable them and see if that helps the problem!

I disabled certain extensions and was able to find the problem. It seems to
be all fixed now since I uninstalled it. Thanks so much!

Does identifying the problematic extension really qualify as fixed? I'm pretty sure Chrome shouldn't be crashing, no matter what might be wrong with the extension. Is that part fixed?
Yes, it was fixed upon disabling and uninstalling the extension in
question. Smooth sailing ever since.

sherlysphoneemailcontact3@gmail.com,

I've added a "possible" temporary fix in crbug.com/870838 .

Since I cannot reproduce the issue, could you please try to see if you can reproduce the crash using the latest Canary and the extension combination that you had before?

I think the root cause is being followed in crbug/897946
