Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.35 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Install Ubuntu 18.10 2. Install Chrome 70.0.3538.35 3. Open Chrome What is the expected behavior? I should get the Chrome icon inside the Indicator area of the Gnome Panel. What went wrong? No icon is shown Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 70.0.3538.35 Channel: beta OS Version: Ubuntu 18.10 Flash Version: We had a similar issue before (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=799144) but it was fixed in Chrome 66.0.3359.33. Before that fix it was possible to work around it starting Chrome like this: env XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=Unity /usr/bin/google-chrome-beta That workaround does not work in this case and I am not aware of any other workaroud.

Tried testing the issue on reported chrome version #70.0.3538.35 using Ubuntu17.10 and observed a chrome icon on the panel. Attached screenshot for reference. The issue seems to be related to Ubuntu 18.10, hence adding TE-NeedsTriageFromMTV for further investigation of the issue. Thanks.!

Hi, I think there is a misunderstanding: I am not referring at the window bar on the left side, the icon there is correctly shown, I am referring at the app indicator icons on the top panel, where Steam, Skype, network and volume icons are shown. On Ubuntu 17.10 and 18.04 I can correctly see the indicator icons (see attachment, but on 18.04 they are missing (and only Chrome icon seems to be missing since Steam, Dropbox, Ulauncher and InSync work correctly (see attachment). (if you don't see any app indicator icon at all, try to follow this instructions: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1079510/missing-indicator-tray-icons-steam-chrome-dropbox-etc/1079591#1079591)

Sorry, I made a typo in #3, I meant to say that on 18.10 they are missing. I don't have 17.10 installed anymore but I have both 18.04 and 18.10. If you want test on these two I will be happy to help.

Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version #70.0.3538.35 using Ubuntu 17.10. As per comment#3 the issue seems specific to Ubuntu 18.10 and it is not available at TE end to triage the issue further. Hence, adding TE-Hardware-Dependency label. Attaching screenshots for reference. Thanks.!

Hi, thanks for the update. I would like to point out that 17.10 reached its end of life the 19th of July 2018. I don't think it make much sense to keep testing on it since is not one of the currently supported versions of Ubuntu: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases My suggestion is to focus on the latest LTS (18.04) and the latest release (18.10). |
