Browser hangs after visiting some sites

Chrome Version: 71.0.3562.0 
OS: Mac OS

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) go to http://omahaproxy.appspot.com/
(2) "Find Releases" - enter the change id. eg: 70fb50345dbb52b724177650ef6de90b1a9ebb6b
(3) omahaproxy now freezes. cannot navigate to any other sites.

What is the expected result?
sites should load fine.

What happens instead?
sites are frozen.

weird, was able to repro easily but not anymore :(

spoke too soon, repro'ed again.

I guess you suggest have to keep searching for revisions on omahaproxy and eventually it will go to a hang loop. Once you are there, you can't load any other pages and need to restart chrome to get it working again.

for some reason, disabling ad block solves the problem.
