Unable to load any page after N minutes

Reported by geo...@essens.no, Sep 27

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.100 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open any number of tabs with any page
2. Wait random time, between 2 to 15 minutes
3. Open a new tab or navigate thru existing one. Nothing is loading

What is the expected behavior?
To be able to navigate around existing pages and new ones.

What went wrong?
No idea what went wrong, but the memory usage of the computer goes high and there are too many processes involved for a single tab. See the attached file.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 71.0.3562.0 Channel: canary
OS Version: OS X 10.12.6
Flash Version:

While writing this issue it didn't happen but as soon it happens again, I could include a screen recording if needed?

One more thing I've noticed is that pages such as Gmail or Facebook, are starting to warn about lost internet connection and trying to reconnect.
Other browsers and net connections are working perfectly while this is happening on Canary.
Here is a video.

Hmm, does this go away if you disable adblock? Thinking this may be the same thing as bug 889820 , though that seems to have gone away to the reporter in the version you reported it in.

And any chance you could provide a NetLog, as described in https://www.chromium.org/for-testers/providing-network-details
.. or at least the least of "variations" under chrome://version

Thank you for testing the canary!

potentially the same thing as bug 888672 , rather.

Can you try to disable Adblock when this happens?
Same thing

Same issue as #888672

Happens occasionally, Adblock seems to get to 100% (opened task manager)
My current workaround is to kill the adblock process and restart it, reinstalling the extension didn't help
I have disable Adblock extension and everything works fine from then.
During the weekend had 71.0.3566.0 and everything worked perfectly but today got 71.0.3567.0 and the issue started again.
Mergedinto: 888672
Status: Duplicate (was: Unconfirmed)
Thanks for the info. Not quite sure of what to make of the version thing, not much really changed between the two versions, what with the weekend:

re: comment #9: that's very interesting in the "something wrong is going on that's not captured by the NetLog" sort of way. The log has a whole bunch of external DNS requests, then things like HTTP_STREAM_JOB, but no matching URL_REQUESTS at the end, e.g. filtering by bbc.gscont

re: comment #10: that does have NetworkService-Enabled among things.

At any rate looks like bug 888672 has more thorough debugging by people more familiar with those things than me, so merging it there.
