Not quite sure what is going on here, removing the following rule makes the border go away as expected.
table[data-sum-column] {
border-collapse: collapse;
}
Any ideas David?

Blink sometimes doesn't get colspan/rowspan and border-collapsing correct. It's not going to be fixed soon but in this case you can workaround it by ensuring the number of columns is the same in the affected rows. Compare http://jsfiddle.net/dgrogan/6cuq0ao9/1/ vs http://jsfiddle.net/dgrogan/6cuq0ao9/2/ where the only difference is the colspan attribute |
