+Laura. That's something we've been using for a while and since this isn't text I don't believe this had to go through the a11y contrast ratio test. Laura is that the case, I remember we discussed this.

Now this is specified in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, needing a ratio of 3:1: https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/non-text-contrast.html Would definitely good to make this change for better visibility asap.
