Context menus, the app menu, etc. have a whole bunch more width that isn't actually used by anything.  This makes eye-tracking left to right difficult.  It also means the menu items on menus right-aligned to their anchors are much farther from the anchor, which makes it more challenging to e.g. open the app menu and quickly select an item, because your eye has to seek far away.

Whether or not this was intentional, the menu size needs to be based on the size required by the contents, so we need to fix.
