alert(); doesn't work in web apps using PWA

Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Make a progressive web app with service worker 2. Make a page and call alert(); 3. Browse to the page as PWA installed 4. alert() will not show What is the expected behavior? alert(); to show What went wrong? all calls to alert(); do not show Did this work before? Also if phone is connected through USB in dev tools it also works fine.

Bug will only manifest if disconnected from dev tools and only in PWA mode with no browser chrome.

Just tried it on Dev with https://mountainous-pedestrian.glitch.me/ on a Pixel 2 and it seems to be working. Would you mind testing dev?

Now it works for me too without any code change. This did not for the past two weeks. Could they have released an update that fixed this?
