Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10718.88.2) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.118 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Pause button on Bluetooth headphones (Bose Soundlink) does not work. Interestingly volume and skip work but not play/pause. 2. Play/pause button on the keyboard does not work for background app - for example google play music opened in another tab or in a standalone application. These both work nicely in Android, it is very sad it does not in ChromeOS. What is the expected behavior? Play/pause should always work for currently active streaming regardless of whether the app is in background or foreground. It should work the same on keyboard and Bluetooth headphones. What went wrong? It does not work. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 68.0.3440.118 Channel: stable OS Version: 10718.88.2 Flash Version: Google Pixelbook

Extensions like streamkeys may be able to solve this for websites - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/streamkeys/ekpipjofdicppbepocohdlgenahaneen?hl=en We should update ChromeOS builtin apps to handle the keys in the background too.

crbug.com/894255 should fix this. The media session service will co-ordinate media playback and control across different sources (apps, web pages, builtin apps). This will include things playing the background. |
