Non-Regression : Unable to know the character limit when saving a file in Files App |

Issue descriptionChrome Version: 71.0.3544.0/11064.0.0 dev channel Falco, Blaze and Samus OS: Chrome What steps will reproduce the problem? (1)Sign into User -> Now open Browser -> Open New Tab page (2)Now righ click for context menu and select 'Save as' option to save that page -> Now 'Save file as' window is seen (3)Save file with very Lengthy name -> click on 'Save' -> now observe Error message 'Use a shorter name' is seen and try to delete some characters and again 'Save' and observe 'Use a shorter name' is seen i.e. a)Error Message should be like 'Maximum Character limit is 28' etc or b)When trying to save any file with exceeding character limit then automatically Message should get pop up such as 'Maximum Character limit is exceeded' Expected: Should be able to know the Character limit when saving a file Actual: Instead unable to know the character limit This is Non-Regression Issue seen from M-62

I agree that adding the max character limit would be helpful. Could you confirm what that max char limit is? Proposed message: "Use a shorter name. File names are limited to X characters." +jonann@ our UX writer to advise if this string looks good.

Different filesytems have different limits. Downloads is probably 255, Drive is unlimited, Crostini?

How about "Try a shorter filename" Seems a little friendlier, less commanding than "Use." I don't know if the maximum # of characters would matter to most people unless it's a limit that would be easy to run up against, like if they could only use 25 characters or something. |
