User profile ID no longer displayed at top right corner of windows

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.92 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open new browser window
2. View content at top right corner of window
3. Note that user profile ID is not displayed

What is the expected behavior?
In versions 68 and prior, the user profile ID is displayed at the top right corner of window

What went wrong?
Starting with version 69, the user profile ID is no longer displayed at the top right corner of window. Instead, the profile image is shown, slightly lower down. Thus it is now no longer possible to know at a glance which profile a window is associated with, since many/most users' profiles will share a common image. This presents a significant usability and security challenge for users, especially those who juggle windows between multiple profiles.

As a workaround, user can set the flag "UI Layout for the browser's top chrome" to Normal, but then user seems to lose v69 UI redesign elements. Also, it is unclear whether this workaround will function across future updates.

Did this work before? Yes 68

Thanks for the report. This is a duplicate of issue 881463.
Talk of the lack of text becoming centrithread and issues being merged and closed and reopened and duplicated. This is getting worse than a Brexit negotiation in the Houses of Parliament :(

Avatars are pointless as far as I’m concerned. Especially on a 4k display. Pleas bring back the user definable TEXT descriptions in the task bar.

They work well for the visually impaired.

I could tell which profile was in play at a glance from the TEXT. I can’t tell anything from a random avatar be it unique or not.

The design spec is flawed and we need this hideous change to be undone ASAP.

Please consider the user experience not just the aesthetic

Many Thanks
I wanted to make sure that it was understood that issue 881463 has closed it's thread to comments and explicitly states that the issue in that thread is only around how to make the Avatar better, and does not consider the text option part of their issue.

So hopefully this issue will be kept open for expressing the need for a text based profile visual. If you read the other issue, there is plenty of evidence that a text based profile identifier is highly desired (both for the visually impaired, or anyone that works with multiple profiles).

Having to remember what color or a specific avatar is associated with a particular profile is not an effective method.

Is there a technical reason why there is so much push back from development on just adding it back? From what I've read so far, I have only seen opinions that "it's not needed". I think there has been plenty of examples of why it is needed, so I'm hoping this hold up is more than just stubbornness on the part of the developers.
