devtools steals focus when file is changed externally

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.81 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. open devtools on an app 2. put a breakpoint on a line 3. run app to hit breakpoint 4. change file in external editor and save - or using (eg) git stash/checkout/something What is the expected behavior? I'm not sure what devtools *should* do, but it should not steal the keyboard focus from my external editor. What went wrong? It steals the keyboard focus from my editor or terminal so that some of my keystrokes end up in the file in the devtools' editor. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 69.0.3497.81 Channel: n/a OS Version: Flash Version: I've actually tried to find a reliable way to reproduce this, but not 100% ironed it out. I use vim to edit files, and command line git to for version control, if that helps. I think my failure to come up with steps to 100% reliably reproduce this might be because it depends on the state of devtools...and I haven't quite figured that out yet.

davidmaxwaterman@Thanks for filling the issue... Tried to reproduce the issue on reported chrome 69.0.3497.81 using Ubuntu 14.04. Steps: ----- 1. Launched reported chrome 2. Enabled chrome app " fullscreen-trouble.crx " and opened app As we are unable to launch Devtools on app @Reporter: It would be really helpful if a sample app is provided, so that we can investigate the issue further. and Could you please upgrade to latest chrome stable 69.0.3497.100, you can download latest chrome builds here:" https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel ". > fullscreen-trouble.crx I'm talking about web apps, not chrome apps. Any web app will do, but it's almost certain you'll need to play around with it, and there's no point in me making a web app just for this...use any of the bazilion that are available on the net...even this web site should do.

I don't think this is a duplicate. I recently did a 'git checkout' of a different branch and chrome devtools rudely grabbed keyboard focus and presented me with a series of alerts which I had to dismiss, presumably one for each file that had changed due to the git checkout. I also had trouble closing the tab because chrome had grabbed focus in the middle of my typing, and so the content of the code that was visible at the time had changed, and it kept wanting me to save it.
