Chrome Canary tabs stop working after a couple of minutes

Reported by amut...@gmail.com, Sep 12

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start browser and let it restore tabs
2. Select a tab and start to click a round
3. After a couple of minutes the tab freezes and the activity spinner keeps spinning until the either wait kill dialog pops up or I use the Task manager to kill the tab and reload. The tab continues to work a bit but eventually freezes.

What is the expected behavior?
Tabs keep working

What went wrong?
All my open tabs freeze

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 71.0.3550.0 Channel: canary
OS Version: OS X 10.13

Is there a Chrome process with high CPU usage? If yes, can you please take a sample of this process via activity monitor and attach it here? Thanks in advance.
No there no single Chrome process with high CPU.
I have updated to 71.0.3551.0 and after the restart all the restored tabs hung.
I quit Chrome and manually started the browser from the MacOS Dock and the each tab appears to be working but just a bit slower.

It seems that even with 71.0.3551.0, the tabs will hang when I change WiFi APs.

I tried turning of WiFi for a short spell, (1 minute), tuned it back on and then reload the hung pages and things appear to work again, but not always. My best work around is quitting the browser and starting it again from the Dock

Interestingly, this issue is appearing in Firefox or Safari when I change connected APs like when I move from work to home.

Could I be impacted by Networking stack changes on the Chrome on MacOS 10.13.6

Thanks for the report.

Can you try with a clean profile, and in particular with no extensions? If the behavior *also* shows up in Safari and Firefox I doubt that an extension is involved but it's always worth checking.
