Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.81 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Install Chrome 2. Log in to Google & sync my profile 3. In incognito mode, visit google.com Additional info: - I made sure to even disable all extensions. - I'm located in the US (coming from a US IP). - My OS locale is English. - My language in Chrome is English (see attached). - I have a G Suite account. What is the expected behavior? The English version of google.com should be displayed. What went wrong? The Russian version of google.com is displayed (see attachment). This also propagates to many other sites on the internet, not just google.com. This started happening after I visited a country where Russian is one of the major languages for web content. If I test BEFORE syncing my account, the default English version of Google.com is displayed, so this is definitely related to my account. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 69.0.3497.81 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.6 Flash Version:

This also happens in Chrome on my Android (sites are in Russian by default), though I can't take a screenshot in Incognito mode.

I was able to reproduce this multiple times, even by deleting and recreating my browser profile.

Also, here are my localization settings for my Google account:

Can you please - open your profile folder (the path is written in chrome://version) and - open the json file "Preferences" (for instance in Chrome) and - tell me the value of the intl.accept_languages preference? (search for "accept_languages", the value is right after that) Thanks!

(this issue seems like another instance of issue 784740)

Thanks for the response jkrcal@, here is the data you requested:
"intl":{"accept_languages":"ru-RU,en-US,hy-AM"}
Even if this is related to issue 784740, could there be a secondary issue here related to Incognito Mode? Why should this setting be exposed in IM?
From the principle of least surprise, if I'm a developer testing a site in IM, I'd not expect the language preferences related to my actual account to affect the test. From a privacy perspective, especially if you have multiple languages, it might become easier to fingerprint users?

Yep, the core of the issue seems to be issue 784740. yyushkina@, can you please confirm whether it is expected bahavior that the "accept_languages" pref get applied in Incognito mode?

Correct, accept languages and other language settings are meant to be exposed in incognito mode. The issue at hand here is 784740. |
