In crrev.com/c/1203596 it's adding one event listener for each expanded folder which doesn't scale that well, because this is user's control.

We should have 1 event listener in the root and have a smarter logic to match with the updated entries from the event. It can take advantage of DOM query selector to collect the visible folders that need update the shared icon.
