blurry fonts after upgrade to v69 from v68

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3497.81 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Upgrade to google chrome from 69.0.3497.81 to  68.0.3440.106 on openSUSE Leap 15.0 via zypper.

2. Open mytabletennis.net on v68 and v69
3. Look at the font in url bar
4. Look at the fonts under "Latest posts"

What is the expected behavior?
Font rendering is the same in v69 as in v68 and not more blurry - see before/after attachments.

What went wrong?
v69 font rendering is blurry.

Did this work before? Yes Version 68.0.3440.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Chrome version: 69.0.3497.81  Channel: stable
OS Version: openSUSE Leap 15.0

Unable to reproduce the issue on ubuntu 14.04 using chrome reported version #69.0.3497.81.
Attached a screen shot for reference.

Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue.
------------
1. Opened mytabletennis.net on latest stable #69.0.3497.81
2. Looked at the font in url bar
3. Looked at the fonts under "Latest posts".
4. Did not observe any blurry font.

The issue has been reported on openSUSE flavour of OS-linux. Hence, forwarding the issue to inhouse team for further triaging of the issue.

Same problem Ubuntu 18.04
Chrome V69 not following font.conf settings.
Previous version V68 don't have this problem.

This bug should not have been merged into #880513, with 69.0.3497.92 the font configuration is still wrong so it was probably an unrelated issue. (Arch Linux current as of today.)

I agree with comment 8. Attached screenshots from my work 3440x1440 monitor. Fonts in latest 69.0.3497.92 are still blurry and a bit squished together as compared to 68.0.3440.10.

No change for the better in v69.0.3497.100 - fonts are still very blurry.
