eve sometimes uses internal speaker after Bose QC25 headphones are connected

Project Member Reported by derat@chromium.org, Sep 5

Issue description

Google Chrome	67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision	a337fbf3c2ab8ebc6b64b0bfdce73a20e2e2252b-refs/branch-heads/3396@{#790}
Platform	10575.58.0 (Official Build) stable-channel eve
Firmware Version	Google_Eve.9584.107.0

Twice now, I've connected Bose QC25 headphones to my eve device using the 1/8" headphone jack and seen the device play through its internal speaker instead of routing audio to the headphones. When this happens, the best case is that it's embarrassing and disruptive to the people near me.

http://feedback/#/Report/85641556697 is a feedback report that I filed immediately after seeing this just now. When it happened, I reseated the audio cable in both the headphones and the eve and still didn't see the headphone audio indicator appear in the system area.

After disconnecting and reconnecting the cable a second time, the headphones were detected and used as expected.

The logs indicate that the driver didn't notice the headphones.
Leo, have we seen any issues with the mic jacks on eve over time?

Many plugs are thicker than Eve sometimes that dislodges my headphones.
