automount on usb from file open dialog locks up browser

Reported by jkonecny...@gmail.com, Sep 4

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux armv7l) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/68.0.3440.106 Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Use a distro that supports automounting a usb stick via the file open dialog like XFCE.
2. make sure auto mount is turned off in the os.
3. Open chromium.
4. insert usb drive
5. hit ctrl-o to open a file in the browser
6. select the unmounted usb stick
7. the os should automount the usb stick
8. select a file or simply click cancel.
9. File dialog closes
10. browser is frozen

What is the expected behavior?
Browser should not freeze

What went wrong?
Something goes wrong when mounting through the file open dialog which causes the browser to freeze. If you mount the usb stick prior to using the file open dialog the browser will not freeze..

chrome://crashes says crash reporting is disabled. Not sure I can enable it on chromium. Also... The browser doesn't really "crash" when this happens... it just locks up and becomes unresponsive. I duplicated the problem on the latest Raspian on the raspberry pi 3. Please let me know if there's something I can do.
