Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36 Example URL: Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Install Times New Roman 2. Set your preferred Arabic fonts using fontconfig local.conf file 3. Visit http://www.kooora.com/ (for example) 4. Arabic text will be displayed by Times New Roman, not prefered above. What is the expected behavior? Arabic text should display by the defaults Arabic font set (serif, sans-serif, monospace) by fontconfig. What went wrong? Installing Arial or Times New Roman in Linux and then setting the preferred Arabic fonts (serif, sans-serif, monospace) by fontconfig to Noto Sans Arabic and Noto Naskh Arabic will still render the sites with Arabic texts with either Arial or Times New Roman. fc-match :lang=ar displays the font set by fontconfig (not Arial or Times New Roman). This applies to sites preferring sans-serif, sans, or monospace. Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 68.0.3440.106 Channel: stable OS Version: Arch Linux (4.18.5) Flash Version: See attached local.conf file.

Chrome does not support setting language specific fonts using font config. Instead you'll need to change the default font in chrome for all languages, or use the "Advanced Font Settings" extension to change the default font on a per script basis. |
