Chrome Freezes when trying to get to Apple Learn pages

Reported by deborah....@transcom.com, Aug 28

Issue description

Chrome Version : <Copy from: 'about:version'>
OS Version: OS X 10.13.6
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
     Safari:Ok
    Firefox:OK
    IE/Edge:Ok

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.applelearn.corp.apple.com
2.same
3.same

What is the expected result?
pages for Apple related training material don't load and should load in chrome.

What happens instead of that?
Page spins and chrome freezes and a computer restart is needed to resolve the issue.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
Clearing history and cache and installing and reinstalling chrome do not resolve the issue. There is clearly a scripting bug in Chrome with Apple.

Thanks for filing the issue!

Tried checking the issue on chrome version 68.0.3440.106 using Mac 10.13.1 by navigating to http://applelearn.corp.apple.com/.
Upon navigating to the above mentioned URL it says "This site can't be reached". Attaching the screen shot of the same.

@Reporter: Could you please have a look at the screenshot and give us a confirmation on the issue i.e., if this is the error being talked about. Providing the details of Chrome version would be helpful.

The actual issue is that when I try to use chrome for anything, especially going to any apple pages, chrome freezes and the only fix seems to be a total restart of my iMac which I can’t do all the time so the bug needs to get fixed.
As for the version of chrome I am using, it is the latest version and my iMac is running the latest OS version.
Hope that helps,

The next time Chrome freezes, please use activity monitor to take a sample of the "google chrome" process and post the results. Also use activity monitor to take a sample of any other "chrome helper" processes that are using significant CPU.
