Pressing and holding a key on address bar causes system freeze (gnome with wayland)

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Focus on address bar, move caret to the end.
2. Press and hold left arrow key.

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
OS became freezed and unresponsive. Logs on `journalctl` shows lots of

    Aug 28 21:48:34 myhost org.gnome.Shell.desktop[864]: Key repeat discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't seem to be processing events fast enough!

Unable to reproduce the issue on Debian Rodete with chrome #68.0.3440.106 

golopot@ Could you please re-try the same scenario on clean profile with no apps/extensions and let us know your observations. if the crash still happens please help us with latest 16 digit crash id from chrome://crashes.

And a clarification would help: is this a system freeze or a crash?
This is a system freeze, not a crash. 

Unfortunately, the laptop to reproduce this bug is unavailable for now until about a week later.
