I tested this on soraka (HP Chromebook x2).
This is not reproduced. Could you send a feedback report if possible?

Thank you.
Confirmed on eve (pixelbook) 69.0.3497.95.

Sample pages where I have observed this effect:
- https://www.nytimes.com/video/us/politics/100000006154065/hurricane-michael-florida-video.html?playlistId=100000005448156&region=video-grid&version=video-grid-headline&contentCollection=Times+Video&contentPlacement=0&module=recent-videos&action=click&pgType=Multimedia&eventName=video-grid-click
- ...or any other video linked from https://www.nytimes.com/video
- https://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp (the topmost video embed)

Video of this issue:

Steps to reproduce the issue for the New York Times video linked above:
1. Put the device into tablet mode in portrait orientation
2. Open the page in a new tab
3. If the site runs a pre-roll ad video, it will display upside-down with no further user action. **This failure mode is 100% consistent in my testing**
4. Wait for the main video to begin playing
5. Tap on the video and tap the pause button
6. Tap the play button to unpause the video
7. Wait for the play/pause UI overlay to disappear after a few seconds
8. **Some of the time**, the video will being playing upside down

Reproduceability:
- The only 100% consistent example I have found in testing is the nytimes.com pre-roll ads in step 3 above.
- I haven't found a 100% consistent setup for the bug in step 8 above, or for other sites, and I haven't found a pattern to when it occurs or not for sites that are flaky

Observable characteristics of the bug:
- Loosely speaking, the presence of any overlaid visual content reverses the flipped effect. E.g., tapping a video to display the play/pause controls, or tapping the triple-dot icon in the Chrome window to open a drop-down menu, will temporarily return an upside-down video to rightside-up orientation. Close the drop-down or let the play/pause controls fade out, and the video flips upside-down again.

"Report an issue" / alt-shift-i:
- I have filed reports for this issue at affected sites, **while the upside-down effect was occurring**
- Reports were filed from this email address and include #upsidedownvideo in the body
- Due to the issue described above in "Observable characteristics...", the included screenshots do not show the upside-down effect.

Thanks for updating. I will take a look.
Updating with better example that is 100% consistent.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Put device into tablet mode, portrait orientation
2. Open a new tab and visit https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/9nndbz/while_the_rest_of_the_team_is_busy_on_the/
3. Confirm Reddit has served the "new design" version of the page (default for signed-out users; see attached image)

On eve 69.0.3497.95 (same as last comment), the video will play upside-down.

The video can be flipped rightside-up **temporarily** by:
- Zooming in on the page at all with two fingers
- Actively scrolling with one finger (returns to upside-down when done)
- Scrolling until page's top nagivation bar is drawn over the video and then stopping
- Opening the system settings or notifications menus via the Chrome OS shelf
- Opening the triple-dot Chrome browser menu in the top right of the window

Can provide video, further system info, etc., if needed.

Thanks for update.
As far as I try today, this is not reproducible on the latest M70 Chrome OS image.
May I please ask you to try 70 too?

Thanks a lot!
This device is daily-use, so I prefer to keep it on stable. I will update here if I observe the issue when 70 hits stable.
Confirmed fixed on 70.0.3538.76 stable on Eve.

Re-tested the NYTimes and Reddit cases described above and both played rightside-up.

Will reply again if I find some other way to reproduce under 70.

Sure. Thanks for reporting and confirming!
Let me mark "WontFix" as the issue was already fixed on M70.
