Significant Hanging on Mac OS X |
||||
Issue description
Chrome Version : 68.0.3440.106
OS Version: OS X 10.13.6
URLs (if applicable) : N/A - general issue
Other browsers tested: N/A - Chrome specific issue
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari: OK
Firefox: OK
IE/Edge: OK
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use the browser consistently for 1-1.5 hours. I'm a moderate tab lover, with perhaps only 10-15 open at a time.
What is the expected result?
1. 20-30 second hang of active tab.
What happens instead of that?
1. I am able to switch to non-active tabs. Occasionally the hang will go long enough that the Mac OS X Finder will prompt to kill the waiting Chrome process.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36
I'm very happy to help debug if you let me know what would be most helpful for you. It's fairly consistent every day.

argv@ Thanks for the issue. Tested this issue on Mac OS 10.13.3 on the reported version 68.0.3440.106 and the latest Canary 70.0.3534.0 and unable to reproduce the issue by following the below steps. 1. Launched Chrome and used the browser approximately for 1 hour with ~10-12 tabs open. 2. Couldn't observe any hang on the browser and no prompt is also shown up to kill the process. Request you to retry the issue on a new chrome profile without any apps/extensions and update the thread with the observations. Thanks..

When the hang happens, please use activity monitor to take a sample of the affected browser [will probably be at 100% CPU]
