Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Install a third-party desktop-only non-English input method on Windows 10. (e.g. Yahoo KeyKey IME) 2. Open Chrome, Type any character on Omnibox or any textbox on any webpage with that IME 3. Omnibox suggestion function become broken What is the expected behavior? Omnibox suggestion list will appear when typing What went wrong? Within the same window, Omnibox suggestion list will NO LONGER appear when typing Did this work before? No Chrome version: 68.0.3440.106 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: This problem exists for a very long time already. I reopen Chrome whenever the address bar is broken. Today I finally know how to reproduce and submit it here. I believe many people in Asia are using desktop-only IME and also suffered from this bug a lot.

In many Asian languages IME, every single "whole character" is composed by several "radical characters". (i.e. insert one character by a few keystrokes) Typical user's interaction when the address bar is focused: Step 0. User switch to a desktop-only IME Step 1. User start typing radical characters Step 2. User press space bar / number key to insert a "whole character" (After Step 2, user can choose some other candidate characters or repeat steps 1-2 to insert more "whole characters") Step 3. IME notify that character(s) insertion is complete / Candidate window closes (user can repeat steps 1-3 to insert more "whole characters") Step 4. User switch back to English Keyboard (Candidate window is forced to close) (Note: It is very often that some of the above steps are skipped. User may also type English alphabets or punctuation before or after these steps.) Step 5. Press [Enter] / address bar lost focus Observations: [Chrome] Problematic handling: Disable Omnibox suggestions at Step 1 Re-enable Omnibox suggestions at Step 3 only [Firefox] Correct handling: Disable address bar suggestions at Step 1 Re-enable address bar suggestions at Steps 3, 4 & 5 Conclusion: In many cases, Step 3 is not invoked in design of some desktop-only IME (e.g. Yahoo KeyKey). Therefore the Omnibox suggestions have no chance to be re-enabled. User can never see Omnibox suggestion list anymore, even though they browse and search other websites afterwards, ---------- On the other hand, today I found that another previously fixed IME-related bug reoccurs in Windows 10: https://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/omnibox-ime-coordination The overlapping bug still exists when using Windows 10 pre-installed IME (i.e. IME for both desktop and UWP app)

I tried to test this. The built-in Windows IME seems to work fine. Is there a recommend third-party IME I can download to try? Yahoo KeyKey did not seem to be readily available for download.

yk.leung@, we're having trouble reproducing this. Can you recommend a freely-available IME that exhibits this issue? thanks!
