Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36 Example URL: http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/ Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to various unicode list pages at http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/ What is the expected behavior? All unicode blocks for which you have the fonts installed should render combinations correctly. What went wrong? Some combinations show the one of the combining marks as an unknown unicode character (a rectangle). Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 70.0.3521.2 Channel: dev OS Version: Fedora 28 Flash Version: Attached is a UTF-8 text file where I copy-pasted all of the rows from http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/ where combined characters didn't render properly.

khym.chanur@ Thanks for the issue... Tested this issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3521.2 using Ubuntu 17.10. Attaching screen-cast for reference. Steps: --------- 1. Launched reported chrome 2. Navigated to given URL " http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/ " As we are able to see the font rendering correctly not seen rectangle boxes. @Reporter:Could you please check the attached screen cast and please let us know if anything missed from our end and Request you to retry this issue with fresh profile without any extensions/apps or reset all the flags and let us know if issue still persists. Thanks..!

I tried using Incognito, and also starting with "--no-experiments --disable-extensions", but neither helped. I also temporarily got rid of the Microsoft fonts that I also use and my custom Fontconfig configurations (restarting the browser each time), but neither of those helped either.

Tried testing the issue on reported chrome version 70.0.3521.2 using Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 17.10 with the exact steps mentioned in comment#3. As the issue seems to be related to Fedora OS, hence adding label "TE-NeedsTriageFromHYD" and requesting someone from Inhouse team to have a look into this and help in further triaging it. Thanks!

Thanks for the screenshots, that looks bad indeed. Have been unable to reproduce the problem on any of the linux machines around here. What distribution and version of linux are you running? What's your default font? Have you made any changes to font-config?

I'm using Fedora 28. My default font is Liberation Serif. I'm using the Microsoft Windows fonts from my Windows 10 partition, but temporarily removing them didn't help. I have several custom fontconfig files, but temporarily removing them didn't help. I'll attach the list of installed font packages and custom fontconfig files.

With version 71.0.3578.80, Fedora 29, combining diacritical marks and Hebrew show no problems, but everything else I noted as having problems still has problems. |
