(Chrome OS 70.0.3519.3) Embedded video player not responding to user input |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Chrome OS 70.0.3519.3 (canary channel) Pixelbook Example videos: https://developers.google.com/youtube/youtube_player_demo, https://viewability.withgoogle.com/static/video.html, or video in Google Drive opened in a new window - Embedded videos are not responding to clicks or keyboard shortcuts. A video on youtube.com will work as expected though - Everything works as expected on Linux and MacOS (on Chrome 68.0.3440.106 and canary Chrome 70.0.3522.0) and Chrome OS 69.0.3497.21 For https://developers.google.com/youtube/youtube_player_demo and https://viewability.withgoogle.com/static/video.html I cannot even get the videos to start. For drive videos in a new window - I can make the initial click to start the video - Hovering over the playing video will not show the video controls - At end of video, the controls show, but cannot be clicked - I can control play/pause with play/pause button on pixelbook (F8?) - If I click outside of the video, keyboard shortcuts like "j" (to rewind 10s) and "k" (play/pause toggle) work. If I click on the video, these keyboard shortcuts no longer work.

Moving to Input as these videos do not use Chrome's media controls but YouTube's.

I don't seem to reproduce this issue. Reporter can you still reproduce this on the latest version?
,

I currently cannot reproduce on 70.0.3524.2 :-). Thanks for checking! Unfortunately, I flashed a new CrOS image onto my machine and moved from canary to dev channel, so I don't have any further insight into when the issue was resolved.

I'm going to close this as it's not longer repro. nohle@ feel free to reopen if it shows up again.

I still see this on 70.0.3538.0 for Scarlet. None of the embedded Youtube videos play from this url: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/6/17826230/fall-movie-preview-november-2018-fantastic-beasts-bohemian-rhapsody-girl-in-the-spiders-web-grinch

Hi Nohle: We are still getting reports for this issue on the community side. Here is a recent example: - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chromebook-central/hVyIiQkAhYA/AVDXp7k8BAAJ;context-place=forum/chromebook-central - Feedback (https://listnr.corp.google.com/product/208/report/85669131747)

Hi aidrees@, Thanks for following up on this. Unfortunately, this is outside my realm of expertise. I reported it because I noticed it while on canary channel. Can you triage appropriately (or assign to someone who can)? I couldn't immediately reproduce on 70.0.3524.2 (see above), but I see from willg76x@ and listnr that users still encounter this in 70.0.3538.xx. I'll reopen the issue.

Cc'ing Ria as she is working on the targetting in these scenarios.

This sounds like crbug/877762 but it's weird that you can "make the initial click to start the video" - could you confirm if disabling "Viz hit-test draw quad" in chrome://flags fixes the bug if you still have a repro and that those videos are OOPIFs?
,
Sep 20
That had no effect. 71.0.3555.0 on Scarlet

I tested with https://developers.google.com/youtube/youtube_player_demo and can repro with VizHitTestDrawQuad turned on (i.e. can't click the video); disabling it fixed it for me. Is this different from what you are trying to test?

Tried it again and it is working. I reset all my flags to default and then set the viz flag to 'disabled'

Thanks for the feedback! merging it with crbug.com/877762 |
