Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open recent tabs 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? All tabs should show a square with picture of website plus banner. What went wrong? All recent tabs are single line text without graphical preview/snapshot. Did this work before? Yes This version (68.0.3440.91) works fine on Pixel 2 Pie PPR1.180610.009 August 5 security update. Chrome version: 68.0.3440.91 Channel: stable OS Version: 7.0 Flash Version: Recent Chrome version broke on Android 7.0 on Note 5 broke recent tabs view. All tabs are single line without graphical preview/snapshot. It's as if it's thing to save memory. I only have two tabs open, cleared cache, cleared data, uninstalled to factory version and the graphical previews on tabs came back. One I updated the latest the graphicay previews go away and return to single line text only. I check to make certain I didn't have any of the accessibility flags enabled and it's not the flags. App update Aug 7th. Version 68.0.3440.91 Note 5 on Android 7.0 July 1st security update. Build NRD90M.N920VVRS3CRG1. This doesn't effect my Pixel 2 with same Chrome build on Pie PPR1.180610.009 August 5 security update.

I will note that if I swipe DOWN on the address bar, I get my standard tabs with thumbnail preview, so it's a work around! The bad news is that you guys also broke the auto hide of the address bar when you scroll down. Should I put in a new bug report for this?

Yes, this bug is because Chrome thinks it's a tablet. I switched to performance mode (a Samsung feature), which effectively changes the screen resolution. After a reboot, Chrome acted fine. So this bug is due to Chrome not detecting the phone correctly when the phone changed the resolution. This wasn't always the case, so clearly you changed the code which detects tablet/phone mode. Perhaps you should switch to a whitelisting model. A Note 5 should never be considered a tablet regardless of resolution.

This bug has no effect on my Note 8 running Android 8.0 with the same mode turned on (default mode - optimized FHD). This only effects Note 5 running in optimized and/or reduced resolution mode (default mode). This was not in effect on other versions of Chrome, only recently. Bug in effect when: Note 5: Optimized mode (Default mode) - no customization Any mode (game or performance) where the resolution is NOT WQHD (Full native resolution of a Note 5) Bug does not effect Note 8 at all regardless of mode or resolution.

As per c#0,8 issue is not seen on Note 8 & Pixel devices. Hence requesting MTV team to check this issue on Note 5. Thanks!

This can be closed out. This was related to Chrome and accessibility turned on. The only way to fix this is to turn it off OR in the future release of chrome you will be able to turn this mode off.
