Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Take a screenshot 2. Send it to a friend 3. Friend tries to visit the URL shown too What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? With no hint that this is ...hat3word.com people will just assume they are seeing the full URL. Therefore you need to indicate somehow this is actually truncated. Please add some grey stuff at left, or a half shaded letter. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 70 Channel: canary OS Version: Flash Version:

Hmmm, can you try emulating a narrower device, and also chose larger fonts.

tedchoc: didn't there used to be elision via fade or ellipsis in the past? Between different platforms and the omnibox vs. suggestions I can't recall for sure. This doesn't seem like a security issue to me because to fool the user requires specific screen and font conditions to cut off exactly between two characters. But it would be nice if this case wasn't possible.

We did use to have fading at the edges of the URL bar, but the focus animations and theme colors made it a challenge to continue supporting. Added way back in https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=393017 Maybe we can calculate the computed color and add this back.
