What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a test build for edgar
2. boot from image (usb or flashed to device, doesnt matter)
3. Hit ctrl-alt-f2 to jump into command line

What is the expected result?
System goes to command line and terminal appears

What happens instead of that?
black screen

Bug can be worked around if an external display is connected when ctrl-alt-f2 is pressed. The terminal will appear if connected.
