A URL with an ipv6 address shows a search error instead of the website

Reported by fivemoun...@gmail.com, Aug 6

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.84 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Type https://2a03:3f40:2b:1111::41/Dashboard in the combobox
2. Press enter

What is the expected behavior?
Display the website requested

What went wrong?
A search error with the URL requested is shown. Chrome does not recognize the URL as a legal one. When you select https://dashboard.sciante.nl/Dashboard, you will get the correct website over IPv6, assuming you're IPv6 connected.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 68.0.3440.84 Channel: stable
OS Version: 16.04.4 LTS
Flash Version: 30.0.0.134ubuntu0.16.04.1

The combobox is in general quite aggressive with declaring something not to be a URL and sending it to the search provider instead. When using simple host names instead of an FQDN often the same happens.

Quoting the specification https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2732.txt

To use a literal IPv6 address in a URL, the literal address should be
enclosed in "[" and "]" characters.

In your case it would be https://[2a03:3f40:2b:1111::41]/Dashboard
