VoiceOver doesn't announce words when typing with "While typing speak" set to "Words" or "Characters and Words" |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 67.0.3396.99 OS: 10.13.6 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) In VoiceOver Utility > Verbosity > Text, set "While typing speak" to "Words" or "Characters and Words" (2) Open any page in Chrome that has an editable element (input, content editable, etc.) (3) Type. What is the expected result? Typing echo matches the setting in VoiceOver Utility What happens instead? With it set to "Words" VoiceOver only announces the spaces between words. With it set to "Characters and Words" it announces characters, but not the words. This works as expected with Safari.

This is possibly a bug or missing code in our implementation of the AXTextMarker APIs. The first thing I'd do is add some logging to see what TextMarker APIs are being called when finishing a word, and what we return.

Friendly reminder, is there any update with the status of this bug? |
