some images don't render properly and video gets stuck

Reported by jpmolina...@gmail.com, Jul 29

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. go to netflix or youtube
2. watch a video in full screen mode
3.

What is the expected behavior?
video don't get stuck and images rendered properly

What went wrong?
I have getting a lot (A LOT) of this message

ERROR:sync_control_vsync_provider.cc(141)] Calculated bogus refresh interval=0.511339 s, last_timebase_=5130960300 bogo-microseconds, timebase=5131471639 bogo-microseconds, last_media_stream_counter_=8424, media_stream_counter=8425

then I tried using this flag --disable-gpu-driver-bug-workarounds and I stated getting this message even more than the previous one (every a couple of miliseconds)

ERROR:gl_surface_presentation_helper.cc(115)] GetVSyncParametersIfAvailable() failed!

Thanks for filing the issue!

Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 68.0.3440.75 using Ubuntu 14.04 with the below mentioned steps.
1. Launched Chrome
2. Navigated to https://www.youtube.com/
3. Played a video in fullscreen mode.
Observed the video playing properly without any errors.
Note: Adding component "Internals>Media", please change if this isn't apt.

@Reporter: Could you please let us know if this issue is seen across other Linux machines too...or only specific to archlinux. Any further inputs from your end may be helpful.
I just noticed that the problem happens with xorg, I rebooted my machine and login using wayland and the images and videos play just fine. I'll try in a different machine today

Thanks...!!
Hi!, I couldn't reproduce this problem in my other machine.

I have been paying attention when I get this problem in my laptop and every time a video get stuck I get this error [5233:5240:0805/155649.702726:ERROR:shader_disk_cache.cc(237)] Failed to create shader cache entry: -2

however, I'm not getting this message anymore:
ERROR:sync_control_vsync_provider.cc(141)] Calculated bogus refresh interval=0.511339 s, last_timebase_=5130960300 bogo-microseconds, timebase=5131471639 bogo-microseconds, last_media_stream_counter_=8424, media_stream_counter=8425

I also updated chromium to 68.0.3440.84, I know my environment is a moving target, what else can I do to help debug this problem or provide more useful information?

Assigning to penghuang for triage, based on some vsync changes in this file in the last six months.

Base on comment 5, Seems this issue is shader cache related, and the sync_control_vsync_provider.cc error is not happening anymore. So I don't
think it is vsync related.
