On Android One, status bar is always light, also ignoring website specified colors

Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Use Chrome on a device running Android One 2. Open any website that specifies a theme color (e.g. androidpolice.com) 3. Status bar displays light background with dark icons instead of theme color What is the expected behavior? Status bar color should match the toolbar What went wrong? On Android One, the status bar color always uses a light background with dark icons and does not match the toolbar, which gets colored correctly. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 67.0.3396.87 Channel: stable OS Version: 8.1.0 Flash Version: Device: Nokia 7 plus System: Android One 8.1.0 The described behavior also happens in Chrome Custom Tabs, but generally only in the Chrome app bundled with the Android One ROM, regardless of the version. Any other Chrome app from the other available release channels behaves correctly. So it might be a problem in the combination of Chrome and Android One.

Tested this issue on Android and able to reproduce this issue. Steps Followed: 1. Launched chrome , navigated to androidpolice.com and observed -- status bar color doesn't change accordingly Chrome versions tested: 60.0.3072.0, 67.0.3396.87(stable) ; 70.0.3503.0(canary) OS: Android 6.0 Android Devices: Micromax AQ4501 This seems to be a Non-Regression issue as same behavior is seen from M-60 builds. I have the same problem. Chrome Version: Stable 69.0.347.76 OS: Android 8.1.0 Phone: Nokia 5 (TA-1053) The problem only exists on Stable channel, not Beta or Canary.
