Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/67.0.3396.99 Chrome/67.0.3396.99 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/google/proto-quic/bb820460b961500b36fa2057af7400bedd0770ff/src/tools/gn/misc/tm/GN.tmLanguage Steps to reproduce the problem: KDE 5.8.9 desktop 1. Go to plaintext file with uncommon extension, e.g. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/google/proto-quic/bb820460b961500b36fa2057af7400bedd0770ff/src/tools/gn/misc/tm/GN.tmLanguage 2. Right-click, "Save as" What is the expected behavior? Save filename should default to the original name and extension from the remote file, "GN.tmLanguage" This is the behaviour used in Firefox. What went wrong? Save dialog default filename adds .txt extension, "GN.tmLanguage.txt" Filter: field shows "plain text document, unknown" Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 67.0.3396.99 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version:

Able to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.13.3, Win-10 and Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome reported version #67.0.3396.99 and latest canary #70.0.3503.0. This is a non-regression issue as it is observed from M60 old builds. Hence, marking it as untriaged to get more inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

I'm unable to reproduce in Chrome 67.0.3396.99 on Windows 10 and Mac OS X 10.13.6. Can you try without extensions and collect a netlog using chrome://net-export/?

Actually, I now see the difference. If I right click the url https://raw.githubusercontent.com/google/proto-quic/bb820460b961500b36fa2057af7400bedd0770ff/src/tools/gn/misc/tm/GN.tmLanguage on this page and choose 'Save As' then it is correctly saved as GN.tmLanguage file. If I open the url so it displays in the browser window, right-click the window and choose 'Save As' then it is saved as a text document GN.tmLanguage.txt

This behavior is outside of the network stack, so I'm tentatively moving it to UI>Browser>Downloads.
