The Android InfoBar should not be hidden by scroll within the first few seconds |
||||||
Issue descriptionWhen the user scrolls a page, the Android InfoBar can be hidden automatically. This may mean that a user misses the InfoBar by scrolling directly after the InfoBar appears. To prevent this problem, InfoBars should not be hidden for a few seconds (maybe 3-6 seconds) after they are initially created. This would be helpful for Previews and Heavy Page Capping.

Changing owner to austinknight@, as I believe he is thinking about changes to the InfoBar.

Is the concern here that the user doesn't see the infobar or that it's dismissed altogether? When the user scrolls back up, the infobar should reappear (along with the omnibox).

The concern is that the user is mid-scroll when an InfoBar is shown (or they scroll right after the InfoBar is shown), and they do not ever see it since it appears for milliseconds.

I see. This is indeed a problem that I'm working on solving with the next iteration of Infobars, however that won't land in time for Previews and Heavy Page Capping. A 3-6 second delay could work with the current Infobar pattern. Let me circle back with the folks that made that pattern and then I'll follow up here.

Lowering to P3 since Previews are likely going to use Omnibox chip instead of Infobar, and the heavy page capping experiment has deprecated. |
