Black and white printing on PixelBook reverses the colors

Project Member Reported by khachatryan@chromium.org, Jul 19

Issue description

Printing from PixelBook a simple document reverses the colors, so black letters on white background is being printed with the white letters on a black background.

I have attached two printed pages of the same document printed from PixelBook and from Windows laptop.

Questions:
1) Is this issue specific to the document you printed? If you navigate to chrome://version and print it, will that print correctly?
2) Is this issue speciic to the particular printer you are using? Is the printer connected to your computer with a USB cable? Is it a local network printer? Cloud printer?
The issue is not specific to the document. All the normal documents are being printed in reversed colors.
I have not tried to print the Chrome version from Chrome browser. I'll try it.
The printer is a network printer. It is not a cloud printer. I have not tried to print with the USB cable connected to my PixelBook. I'll try it.

The printer is Brother MFC-2740DW
Can you also try a printer from a different manufacturer?
This is a laser printer, I need to find another laser printer of other brand. I'll try.
I contacted to Brother and they told me the issue has nothing to do with their driver.

Numerous users on Chromebook Central with this problem. The solution for them was to update the printer's firmware. It was not a ChromeOS issue.
I think a good guide should be provided about how to add a printer on PixelBook.
I added printers in Google Chrome and that solved the problem.
I added two printers and on both printers printing worked perfect.

The screenshot of added printers is attached.

Basically the attached screenshot appears while I installed and launched Chromebook WiFi printing.
In order to print from Google Chrome the "WiFi Printer Driver for Chromebooks" application must be launched. Without this application there is problem with printing on Pixelbook.

skau: Close? See if we need better documentation per comment 8?
In comment #8 I forgot to mention that installing "Chromebook WiFi printing" is a must in order to get printers added. Otherwise without that application installed it shows printers in the list ( not exactly like screenshot from Comment #9 ), but it is not working. On the color printer it didn't work at all and on b/w it printed in reversed colors. After installing "Chromebook WiFi printing" everything worked perfect on both printers.

I think it would be better if "Chromebook WiFi printing" will be added in PixelBook OS by default.

Re #12: Did you attempt to setup the printer through chrome://settings and it did't work?
Yes I tried and it didn't work.

Were you unable to setup the printer or were you unable to get the printout that you wanted from it?
I think if I was not able to setup a printer then I could not print, so I was able to print and it printed out in reversed colors.
