There are operations (i.e. file copying) that can't be done due to file system limitations. This includes copying >4GiB files to a FAT32 partition, or copying a file containing a ':' in the name to a windows formatted disk. Instead of attempting the operation and failing or giving a non-descript error message, we should validate the operation and fail early with a clear error message to the user.
