[MacViews] Bookmark items on the Bookmarks Bar and Extension items on the Toolbar appear with delay when launching Chrome |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: Canary 69.0.3491.0 OS: macOS 10.13.6 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Quit Canary (2) Launch Canary (3) Take a look at the Bookmarks Bar or the Toolbar during Chrome starts What is the expected result? The Bookmark items and the Extension items should be immediately there. What happens instead? The Bookmark items and the Extension items appear with delay. Not sure if this is a regression, but it more noticeable after the "Window Frame is blank when starting Chrome" issue ( bug 849762 ) is fixed now. A screencast is attached. Thanks for looking into this issue in advance. Mehmet

This happens on the Cocoa browser as well. Bookmark models and extensions load on background threads during browser startup to prioritize display of the initial window.

here's a screencast of Cocoa. Discrepancies in MacViews may be due to Issue 862773

Huh -- I had no idea. Sounds like "WontFix" if this is indeed intentional.

This is WontFix then.

Thanks for your feedback and the clarification that the delay appearing is intended. Not sure, but maybe it is possible to remove the strange Bookmark folder icon on startup? Please see the attached screenshot. Thanks. |
