Chrome OS crashes when trying to format an SD card

Chrome Version       : 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Other browsers tested:
  Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
     Safari: n/a
    Firefox: n/a
       Edge: n/a

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) I put an SD card (16GB) into the slot
(2) Chrome OS says it needs formatting
(3) I go ahead with the format and after about 3 mins, Chrome OS crashes
(4) This (micro)SD card obviously has a problem as it also won't format on W10.  But I don't think Chrome should crash.

What is the expected result?

A formatted SD card.

What happens instead?

Chrome OS crashes.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

Yes.  It was uploaded automatically (I added some additional info at Issue
866321).

I managed to get it to happen again.  I tried re-formatting the same SD card (it didn't need it but I tried anyway).  Attached is the log file I took afterwards.  I'll try it again and set the event logger(?) running beforehand.

I did it again.  This time I had the chrome://net-internals "Capturing events" running while I tried to reformat the uSD card.  Attached is the debug-log I created just after the Chromebook rebooted.  Don't know if that's any help.

I should also note that the uSD card is now formatted OK.  It works fine in a W10 laptop as well as this Chromebook.  But the Cbook still crashes if I try to reformat the uSD card.
